Maurice Owen | Portrait Session in London

A quick but enjoyable one this - a studio portrait session with artist and musician Maurice Owen, shot in my London studio in London for potential press and website use.

Maurice and I go back further than most of my clients - he was my dad's lecturer in fine art at university, and the two of them were in a band together when I was very young. It's a nice thing, getting to photograph someone you've known in some capacity most of your life.

The brief was straightforward - a clean, characterful set of portraits that could work across press and web contexts. We kept it simple: black turtleneck, grey backdrop, and let the light and Maurice's presence do the work. I shot a mix of colour and black and white, and also brought in his saxophone for a few frames which gave the session a nice second gear.

The sunglasses shot was a late addition and ended up being one of my favourites from the day.
