Winnie Asawa - Dance Artist Portaits in the park
I first shot Winnie Asawa back in 2024, in the studio. Since then I’ve wanted to get her in front of the camera again - this time we arranged to do an outdoors shoot, on Hampstead Heath.
Where the studio session was about control and stillness, this one was about movement and shape. We shot from late afternoon into early evening, timed so the sun was low, rather than coming straight down.
What I enjoyed most was capturing Winnie's movements in stills, Winnie’s styling also enhanced the shoot as her clothes flowed with her poses, and the colours worked really against the scenery - the reds of her outfit stood out really well from the blocks of green and blue in on the heath.
